Flooding, Politics, and You.

Agosto 11, 2012

Disclaimer: My family/clan is a known supporter of the “opposition” in our city. Me, I don’t care, I just type what I see, and mind you I’m not even a registered voter.

Short version: The ideas presented here https://nyvremzurc.wordpress.com/2011/04/26/why-the-conditional-cash-transfer-would-not-function-properly/

Long Version:

Here we are again, this nation’s capital region paralyzed, and since most of the businesses are located here, I believe it’s also safe to say that business we’re halted too, at least the huge “financial” businesses, meanwhile “local” business thrives in these times, from selling overpriced goods, pushing makeshift boats, and my favourite, professional relief goods queuer and snatcher.

Of course, this is the shining moment of our dear patron saints, ah I mean politicians. People will receive “relief goods” from them and stupidly believe it came from their own pockets.

As usual, the polarization is very apparent here in our place. If you look at the facebook page of the current administration in this city, you can city photo ops of their distribution of their “help” but interestingly, our “barangay” is nowhere to be found, as if it a nonexistent. as well as other “barangay” (BTW, barangay is the smallest administrative region/division in our country, maybe like a town or community.)

So what are the common those missing barangays from the photo ops? it’s chief executive (barangay captains) are not allies of the city administration. thus, not getting help from them. Funny, when the local government code of this land explicitly says that Barangay officials should be nonpartisans. But that’s a different matter altogether and that is the ideal world. I would also like to add that there is a funny thing that happened in our city last elections, everyone from the same party/group won except for the city’s chief executive. imagine what a chaos this place was then (actually until now) there is supposed to be a recount on comelec but somehow, even with the comelec’s authority, they cannot get those ballots. and after the voting on Corona’s impeachment, it seemed the noise has stopped as well. (this city’s current chief executive is a “wife” of a senator, and that senator has a sister in the senate as well.. Ah, I guess you now know where am I located eh?)

But sorry for digressing, what am I saying here? you see in local politics as I have said before, there is the concept of “Kakampi” (ally) and “Kalaban” (opponent) and that is very apparent here, where emotions are always high to the point that “It’s always personal” must be the motto of this country because people cannot accept objective criticism, and when you did that, they will automatically brand you that you’re supporting the other group.

And because of that, government services have become selective only to their allies. As I have said before, “when you are an ally, we’re good. but when you are our opponent. you’re fucked.” and that is exactly what’s happening to this city. distribution of that so-called relief goods has been selective as well.

But let’s leave it at that now, after 500 no substance group of words and I haven’t even started to talk about the two faces of Taguig. hah, but I guess that’s for next time.

Please don’t complain why it is flooding, we all have a part in it, and even I’m actively doing my part but you don’t…. and also you keep electing incompetent politicians…. ah, I’m tired of this

I haven’t even talked about how two polarizing “opinions” have been spreading since the flood, like why did the pumping station did not work? of course, the opponents of the current administration are blaming the administration. while the allies are saying something happened. see? even locally there is no unity, how can you even expect to rise when you are pulling each other down? what, pray to god? sorry to say, but praying does not do anything until you DO action. sheesh, this is really tiring.

Aren’t we missing the point?

Hulyo 25, 2012

Well, as you can see, for the first time I used tags hoping that this would get some “readers” with some knowledge to the matter.

Now, for the past few months. I’ve registered or should I say “enrolled” to some entity that offers a Free Online Course (Seriously, I think the word course is somewhat not correct but whatever) and seeing people’s first question always is “Are we getting a certificate?”

Sorry, but if you are asking that question then I think you are completely missing the point. Well, not really. but there are some people who almost do those course just for that useless “digital” paper. and those are the people who are missing the point completely.

I even see people on facebook saying they’ve studied at *Insert Ivy League School here* on a certain course to the point sometime it is laughable. Is it for bragging rights? sure, fine whatever. I guess that is human nature after all.

But I believe the whole point for that is not those certificates really. Knowledge of the subject matter. that’s the point. but that’s just me.

The Apotheosis

Hulyo 15, 2012

A very famous celebrity dies, the whole country turns upside down, then history gets re-written or written.

I’ve witness those pattern three times in my current life,  and I’m not gonna name names as to not get hits regarding him specially the most current one. But most likely you already know who he is.

Media outlets scrambling to get an exclusive scoop as to what’s happening, bombarding the citizen’s with memorial specials minute after minute. Funny thing is, a few hours or even minutes after he was announced dead those media outlets already have a memorial VTR that makes you think it was pre-made days or even weeks before. When they were bombing the minds of the citizenry for weeks, about his “condition” et cetera, and how he was getting “better” and maybe can already get out of the hospital.

Now comes the wake, media outlets reporting the kind of casket used and it’s price. same goes for the materials for the “final resting place”. I don’t really get it. I don’t know what’s the point of telling the whole citizenry about the price of the casket used whose price most likely can not be even touched by the majority of the people in this country in their whole life.

Maybe they are teaching people that if you “worked hard” you can get there as well. or perhaps, they’re teaching people albeit subconsciously to treat him as someone on a pedestal, someone higher, or something else altogether.

Then hoards and hoards of people flocking in amazingly waiting for their turn to see him “one last time” for a few seconds. just like, a deity if you ask me. Now my question is, how many people in that place were just there so that they can boast “ah I’m on his wake!” as what majority of the people here would do or say?

Now now, don’t get me wrong. as I believe most of you would think that I hate the guy. No, in fact I also like the guy. But I just can’t help but look on it from the other side as I have always did.

Although I believe this “event” or “tragedy” for some, will not really change the course of our history that much unlike the death of that former president whose son is now the president of this land. but I seriously think that it’s about time we shift our focus or mentality not on a certain few personalities, but look  broader in perspective.

But how can that happen when the mass media is controlling the minds of the whole citizenry?

So now, he is with “God” as most would say or maybe they really meant, he is now a “God” because of how most of the people treats him.

Bakit nga ba maalat yung nilagang kamote?

Hunyo 19, 2012

Makati City is a land of crooks.

Hunyo 2, 2012

Bold statement, isn’t it? Good thing I don’t have much traffic that I think (or would like to believe) that the higher ups would not be able to get a hold of this and not end up getting killed.

Now, let me substantiate that. I am referring specifically to their Anti Smoke Belching Unit or ASBU (more like A Stupid Bunch Unit) that’s been flagging down motorists since, I don’t know.

How can I say that? simple, because they are. they redline the engines their testing, deliberately flagging those who looks like have a lot of money, and they are arrogant ass.

Seriously, if they can’t be revamped they should just be abolished.

Even the noblest intentions sometimes is not enough, specially when greed is everywhere add to that the sentence I repeated for a while in my recent posts. “Power Corrupts”

If someone from your LGU is reading this, please take a look in that unit of yours, it’s a minefield of corruption in there.

And your previous mayor wants to be the president of this land?! Oh God (or any Divine Entity) bless this country.

Sorry for somewhat deceiving you in this entry, but hey that’s how “Media” works.  😀

Dysfunctional Society I

Mayo 7, 2012

I. PRESS FREEDOM is not Absolute

Imagine you are behind the enemy lines, are you going to shout “I AM GOING TO KILL YOU ALL!!!!”? of course not, that will get you killed yourself. not unless you think you are immune to death or very very confident that you would be able to complete your mission (except if your mission is to be a decoy and dying is a part of it)

So where does freedom of the press comes in? use your imagination. not going to tell the incident nor names as I don’t want to give them what they want, publicity. but I guess you will or already know who am I talking about.

You see, most journalist think they are immune to almost anything, up to the point they can stick their dick on someone’s anuses and get away with it. they can always do ANYTHING they want under the guise of press freedom. and technically, that is called power, because you have something that others don’t have. and as we all know, “Power Corrupts”

Who in right mind would openly picture someone getting angry? I mean, I think everybody will get angrier if they saw someone doing that, but because this certain journalist also had his own “angas” and he’s immune he did that anyway.

II. Celebrity Privileges

Celebrities on the other hand, also have that sort of power, they’re treated like their God and Goddesses. and in effect some if not most people happen to get it on their heads on which they think that gives them a right to lambaste or outright put other people down. Again, “Power Corrupts”

Final. Dysfunctional Society

Here’s a question, if those two party are just “normal” people, would people even give a damn about it? if the the celebrity otherwise think that they are nothing special, would they have that temper? if that journalist did take the photos but discreetly, could this have happened as well?

Sadly, when basis for human integrity is their airtime on television or their profession itself, money, fame, and not “have they contributed something ‘good’ to society” this what happens, and I believe that thinking is not going to change anytime soon so see you in the next brawl, herd.
